“Places that stand out for their beauty, for their tourist innovations or for being the clear example that there is life beyond the big cities.” These are the criteria that meet the 50 towns that VIAJAR magazine has chosen as the most beautiful in Spain in 2025, after exploring the 52 provinces of our geography.
In the case of the Community of Madrid, the chosen town is familiar with being part of this type of lists: Chinchón has already been considered in the past as the eighth most beautiful town in Spain.
Although perhaps the hallmark that has made it most recognizable inside and outside the region is its emblematic arcaded Plaza Mayor, the magazine also highlights other places – such as theaters, convents, wineries and its parador in a 17th-century convent – and attributes such as its gastronomy or aniseed liqueur.
For all of the above, the magazine considers that this traditional air that it has managed to maintain over time is the cherry on top that has made Chinchón, a town just 45 kilometers from the capital, so famous. You can consult the complete list of the selected towns in this link.
The jewel of the Baroque 50 minutes from Madrid
Chinchón is just one of the destinations to visit in Madrid on a weekend getaway. Another one is Nuevo Baztán, elected most beautiful village in Spain in 2021: a little known destination but worth a pilgrimage to discover its architectural richness and landscape.
