For a little over a month now, between Calle Fúcar, 6 and Costanilla de los Desamparados, 15, a new facility has been built for the neighborhood: the large multifunctional Fúcar center, whose facilities cover 21,747 m² built and distributed over 11 floors. Among the new services it will provide for the neighborhood and its residents are a gymnasium and a day center for the elderly.
The complex, whose construction was delayed for almost 21 months due to the discovery of archaeological remains in the area, also has an open plaza of 1,217 m² that serves as a connection between the different spaces.
The Madrid City Council has invested 34.1 million euros to carry out the works, which are part of the Works and Equipment Area.
What other services does the Fúcar center offer?
In addition to the gymnasium and day center, there are three other services. In total, this large new multifunctional center offers these five:
- Nursery school (1,306 m²). For children from 0 to 3 years of age. It has seven classrooms, a crib area, playground, kitchen, laundry, offices and toilets.
- Sports center (7,190 m²). It includes a 5,000 m² sports pavilion and an indoor swimming pool with two pools -one of 25 meters and the other for learning.
- Day center for the elderly (2,662 m² on four floors). It has rooms for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological care, nursing, dining rooms, terraces and spaces for activities.
- Parking for residents (7,100 m² spread over three floors). It has a total of 197 spaces for cars, 11 for motorcycles, 100 for bicycles and electric charging points.
- Cleaning area (1,826 m²). It includes an entrance and parking area for vehicles, offices, changing rooms, toilets and electric charging points.
