The massive blackout of the power grid in the peninsula caused that communications, Metro, Cercanías and even traffic lights stopped working, causing the stoppage of work activity in many cases and preventing many people could reach their work destination in many others.
Faced with this impossibility, one of the doubts was: What happens if, due to a national emergency situation, I cannot perform my job, to which the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy responded through social networks.
The Workers’ Statute establishes that in emergency situations such as the one experienced yesterday , labor rights, including remuneration, are protected and guaranteed, even if some of the following situations were to occur:
- Not being able to go to the workplace due to difficulty in commuting, limitation of public transportation or recommendation of the authorities.
- When the workplace is physically inaccessible.
- Those who go to their workplace and are unable to work due to problems with the supply network.
