Chamberí is an essential neighborhood to get to know Madrid’s tapas culture. It has everything from traditional bars, with their painted tiles at the ticket, in the style of El Doble, to restaurants that bet on avant-garde concepts, among them Perrachica, recognized last year as one of the best in the world the most beautiful restaurant in Spain.
At Ponzano the “Tapas”, one of the reference streets for tapas, concentrates those who are looking for the liveliest places in the neighborhood. From July 12 to 20, coinciding with the Fiestas de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, a cold tapa route is held there and in the surrounding area. With it, more than fifteen local will make available to their customers a fresh and light snack along with a drink. All for a price ranging from 3.5 to 6 euros, depending on the venue.

Among the best rated that join the route, we find Casa Fonzo (Ponzano, 60), Fide (Ponzano, 8), Casa Tino (Bretón de los Herreros, 16), Candeli (Ponzano, 47), Doble y Gilda (Santa Engracia, 105), Lamonarracha (Ponzano, 10) and Maruxa (Ponzano, 52). Each business will offer perfect bites to refresh the palate before the typical heat of these dates: watermelon gazpacho, carbonara salad, mussels acevichados and many other summer dishes.

If after tapas we want to enjoy the neighborhood festivities, this is the ideal year to do it. For the first time, the Embassy of Argentina, the Islamic Foundation of Madrid and the Goethe Institute have joined the program, offering free guided tours of their buildings. Two of the most emblematic museums of the neighborhood, the Sorolla and the Geominero, which have already been very present in previous editions of these festivities, will also be present.
Of course, there will be live music. Guests such as the group Seguridad Social ( Friday 12) or the singer Antonio Carmona (Saturday 13) will take the stage in the Plaza de Chamberí to dance to their best songs. In addition, there will be DJ shows and more activities with rhythm.
