This past Tuesday, August 4, the trio of traditional Madrid summer festivals officially began with the start of the 2026 San Cayetano Festival, which runs through this Friday, August 7.
As is the case every year,El Rastro and Lavapiés are the neighborhoods where Madrid’s August festivities have kicked off. On this occasion, SAMUR-Civil Protection delivered the opening address from Plaza del General Vara del Rey.
This Friday marks the end of the first round of summer festivals with the final set of activities scheduled for the occasion and—as is tradition—a key role played by neighborhood associations such as the one on Calle del Oso, which selflessly decorates a small section of the neighborhood and hands out lemonade for everyone to enjoy.
Full schedule for the final day of the 2026 San Cayetano Festival

- AVV La Corrala Neighborhood Reception, featuring a traditional brass band. Plaza de Cascorro. 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Holy Mass. Church of San Millán and San Cayetano, Calle de Embajadores, 15. 7:00 p.m.
- Procession of San Cayetano, departing from the church itself. Calle de Embajadores, 15. 8:00 p.m.
- Traditional performance by María Rodríguez. Plaza del General Vara del Rey. 8:00 p.m.
- Family activity: “The Universes of Raúl Charlo.” Calle de Ribera de Curtidores, 2. 8:00 p.m.
- Lemonade party with traditional music. Organized by: residents of Calle del Oso. Calle del Oso. 8:30 p.m. to 12:10 a.m.
- Headlining performance by Montoya & Carmona: “La Juerga Flamenca.” Plaza del General Vara del Rey. 9:30 p.m.
