Each city has its typical dish -or dishes-, those we automatically think of when we mention them. In Madrid, for example, it is the cocido (stew), while in Valencia it is paella. In the case of Segovia it is also clear: suckling pig is its star dish and, to pay tribute to it, the city of the aqueduct celebrates from February 17 to 21 the 5 Days of El Dorado, a festival in which you can taste suckling pig at 50% of its usual price.
A total of 24 restaurants are participating in this initiative under the umbrella of Marca de Garantía “Cochinillo de Segovia”, whereby during those days they reduce by half the price that appears on the menu for a portion of roast suckling pig.
And although, for obvious reasons, most of the participants are from Segovia -specifically 22- the geographical borders have not been an impediment for the celebration to reach Madrid, where two restaurants are participating.
Restaurants offering suckling pig at a 50% discount
Below we detail the participating restaurants, but first a couple of facts to keep in mind: the discount generally only applies if the suckling pig is to eat on the premises (although some also offer it to take away) and please book in advance at the chosen restaurant.
