The situation in Spain during last Monday ‘s blackout put the people of Madrid in a situation of total uncertainty. As a result, there were queues all day long to get into food stores, collapse in large supermarkets, dozens of people looking for cans of food in the dark…
Less than twenty-four hours later, some people are wondering if there are any stores open, and the answer is yes: the distribution of products continues in supermarkets and stores, which are operating at their usual hours.
Supermarkets equipped for emergencies
While supermarkets such as Dia had to close their doors during the blackout due to the impossibility of charging customers with their usual system, Mercadona and Alcampo kept their doors open during the emergency situation thanks to the activation of their own generators, which supply electricity for 24 hours, maintaining part of the lighting and the operation of the cash register.
