The Vallehermoso Market will partially change its usual schedule on Sunday, September 20, to host an eight-hour food festival. From 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., participating stalls will serve a menu created specifically for the event, featuring tapas priced at 5 and 7 euros and collaborations with guest chefs.
The event has a simple format: each participating establishment will prepare two tapas. The first will be their own creation, and the second will result from a collaboration with one of the chefs invited by the organizers. The dishes will only be available during the festival and will be served while supplies last.
Advance tickets cost 11 euros and include admission to the event, one drink, and one tapa valued at 5 euros. You can purchase them at this link. Those who buy tickets on September 20 will have to pay 12 euros, whether online or at the door.
Tapas for 5 and 7 euros throughout the market
The culinary lineup will feature a wide variety of styles, with stalls specializing in fermented foods, Southeast Asian cuisine, Peruvian-Asian fusion, Italian cuisine, noodles, Japanese cuisine, Galician specialties, Mexican cuisine, and Argentine cuisine.
These collaborations offer an extraordinary opportunity to sample some of our favorite spots in Madrid in a different setting. Take MYO, for example—we’ve already told you about their handrolls—which will be collaborating with Tripea. Another example is Muyummy, which has revamped its location in Coslada and will be collaborating with the team at Batch. And that’s the case with Madrid Secreto (yes), which will be serving its tapa in collaboration with Krudo.
The initial admission fee includes a 5-euro tapa. The rest of the special dishes are paid for separately, at 5 or 7 euros each.
The format is designed to encourage visitors to explore the market: there are no table reservations, and admission does not guarantee a seat. There is also no specific time you must arrive, as long as you come between 12:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Music, culinary bingo, and a tapas contest
Food is the centerpiece of the Market Festival, but it won’t be the only activity. Throughout the day , there will be live music, raffles, a culinary bingo game, and a tapas contest, in addition to other activities announced by the organizers.
