Atocha Station, the railway epicenter and hub of connections in the center of Madrid, recovers from today one of its key services for passengers of the Community: the Public Transport Card management office reopens its doors after a couple of years closed, giving back to thousands of daily travelers the possibility of carrying out essential procedures in one of the nerve centers of the capital.
The space returns with extended opening hours and reinforced staff to respond to the usual volume of users and to facilitate all procedures in an agile way: issuing and renewing the card, obtaining duplicates in case of loss or theft, resolving incidents and detailed information on fares, season tickets and news from the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium.
In addition, the management of tourist season tickets and specific attention for the elderly, young people and groups with special needs, thus contributing to making public transport more accessible to all citizens, have also been added.
The reopening comes after a modernization of the systems and spaces, aimed at reducing queues and waiting times, and has updated protocols for personalized attention and universal accessibility measures.
Other Metro de Madrid novelties

Metro de Madrid has brought forward the closure of the section between Legazpi and Moncloa on Line 6, which will begin on September 6th, one week earlier than planned, due to the faster progress of the modernization works. During this closure, Moncloa and Legazpi will continue to operate as terminus and free buses and shuttles will be provided for users, while the Arganzuela-Planetario station will remain closed until the end of the year.
In addition, the line will incorporate eight new trains as part of an investment of more than 81 million euros and continues its comprehensive renovation and automation plan.
