From the Emergency Information Office of the Madrid City Council had been warning throughout the night and finally the forecasts have been fulfilled: the latest episodes of rainfall experienced in the Community of Madrid are forcing cuts in the roads of the region by the presence of water on the roadway.
According to the information available at this moment, and after the last update of the 112 of the Community of Madrid (at 00:30h), the roads that have sections with cuts due to water on the roadway from the rains are the following:
- (M-611) Pk. 18 to 30.6 in Rascafría.
- (M-215) Pk. 2 in Ambite.
- (M-622) Pk. 1.5 to 2 in Guadarrama.
- (M-203) Pk. 0 to 1 in Madrid.
- (M-111) Pk. 10.5 to 14.8 in Paracuellos and San Sebastián de los Reyes.
Cuts due to the rise of the Manzanares River
On the other hand, the Centro de Gestión de Movilidad de Madrid has informed that due to the rise of the Manzanares river level, and as a precaution, the connection branch of the M-30 (at km. 25) with the M-40 in direction A-6 has been cut. It is urged to avoid the area.
To this warning, Emergencias de Madrid has added that “more cuts are not ruled out in the coming hours”.
Other measures against the risk of flooding in Madrid
This is not the only measure that is being announced this morning: several universities in Madrid have announced the suspension of all academic activities for Friday, March 21, due to the risk of flooding caused by rainfall.
On the other hand, from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, through its X profile, have pointed out that “No person should put themselves at risk. In the face of weather alerts: avoid travel and prioritize teleworking“.
They have also recalled that the regulation “recognizes paid leave to safeguard the safety of workers in case of adverse weather events”.
