It is well known that one of the favorite plans of the Madrilenians in Madrid at summer is, precisely, not being in Madrid. Among the options, from getaways near the capital to discover some of the surrounding villages to theme trains such as the Antonio Machado Train, which proposes “a touristic, cultural and gastronomic journey following the footsteps of the great Spanish poet” in Segovia, reports Renfe’s website.
The city, declared a World Heritage Site, was home to the poet for more than 10 years. And it is precisely that footprint that this themed train puts the spotlight on, with a 30-minute trip from Madrid.
The arrival at Segovia station will be enlivened by a group of actors and by presenting their ticket travelers will be able to access to the show Con ojos de poeta, in the House-Museum of Antonio Machado. A performance in which “the life and work of the poet is traced through a fictional character and live music“.
what else does the Antonio Machado Train include?
The ticket includes round-trip travel on Avant train with origin Madrid Chamartín – Clara Campoamor and destination Segovia Guiomar, in addition to the aforementioned access to the show.
On the other hand, presenting the train ticket, travelers will also have access to the House-Museum of Antonio Machado at a reduced price. This is precisely one of the essential stops to get to know the city.
In addition, by presenting the ticket at the House Museum itself or at the Segovia Reservation Center – Visitor Reception Center (Plaza del Azoguejo, 1) you can obtain the Friends of Segovia Tourist Card free of charge, with which you can get discounts at various establishments, restaurants, museums and guided tours.
