Next Monday, July 1st, the prices of the monthly transport pass in the Community of Madrid will rise significantly. The current 60% discount will disappear to become 40%, paid in equal parts by the Spanish Government and the Regional Government.
This is not an elimination of the discount, but a reduction that will directly affect the pockets of those who travel every day by metro, bus or commuter trains.
The “trick” to pay less
What not many people know is that there is still a way to pay less. If you top up your season ticket before Sunday, June 30, you can keep the current discount for another month, even if you use it in July or even in August.
The maneuver is simple: if your season ticket expires on July 2, you can recharge this weekend and benefit from the discounted price. The system allows you to accumulate an early recharge, which will be activated when the current one expires. In other words, you are buying time at June prices.
How much will the travel pass cost from July 1?
