Last year it was aurora borealis and, this year, a winter landscape. The Central Patio of the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque is hosting, once again for Christmas -and after the success of last year’s proposal-, a new immersive light installation. This time the French visual artist Miguel Chevalier is in charge of the creation , who has baptized it with the name of Crystal Christmas.
It is an interactive tapestry for which Chevalier has been inspired by the geometry of snowflakes. Using advanced technology and artificial intelligence, gives life “to a visual choreography where digital crystals are born, rotate and fade, responding to the movement of visitors,” says the City of Madrid. Also to the footsteps, as each of them generates iridescent reflections.
With this winter landscape Chevalier, whose work is characterized by creating installations that challenge the perception we have of nature, not only explores the boundaries between the physical and digital world, but also “brings a contemporary and poetic dimension to Christmas in Madrid“.

The programming of Christmas 2024-2025 in Madrid
This is just one of the many activities that the Madrid City Council has programmed for Christmas 2024-2025, which has as its slogan “Madrid, Puerta de la Navidad” (Madrid, Gateway to Christmas).
To it are added proposals ranging from traditional nativity scenes to shows such as the Automaton Theater, which was again exhibited last year in Matadero for the first time after five years stored in the municipal warehouses of the Circo Price.
