It cannot be said that in Madrid there are no places to eat sandwiches: not long ago we told you, for example, about Pistola -in the heart of Malasaña- and a couple of years ago La Choripanería arrived in the capital to highlight this Argentinean snack. However, until a few months ago there was no restaurant specializing in the most classic of them all, the mixed sandwich -or bikini, as it is called in other latitudes-: and that gap is what Bikini Bar (Calle del Padre Damián, 23) has come to fill.
This gastronomic proposal, located inside the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding (Calle del Padre Damián, 23), is headed by chef Rafa Zafra, who turned a variation of this sandwich into one of the most iconic dishes of his restaurant Estimar.
With this same idea, that of versioning or reinventing concepts of our cuisine, Zafra makes the menu of Bikini Bar revolve around the classic bikini, first, but without forgetting also to play with different doughs and ingredients to offer other types of sandwiches, snacks and entrepans.
What do you eat at Bikini Bar?
Of course, in the menu -which you can consult in this link- you can find the “usual” bikini with sliced bread, cooked ham and cheese (for 9€). But from there the doughs and fillings vary to find, for example, a sandwich in coca bread with pastrami, straciatella, pesto and arugula, a bikini of tartar of matured cutlet or their version of the squid sandwich.
There are both hot and cold and even in dessert form: the options include sliced bread with Nutella and strawberries, coca bread with chocolate and oil or waffles with ice cream.
