The original idea of escape rooms was born from the screenwriter and anime director Takao Kato in 2007, four years later it was spreading around the world, and of course in Europe, thanks to a Hungarian company: in 2019 it lived its peak of openings and interested people. Now it is already a safe plan for the weekend for groups of friends.
1. Colors Escape Room by Experiencity
Colors is the largest escape room in Madrid. There are different experiences to choose from: The Good Doctor (with the objective of completing the cure and finding Concepción before she dies, solving riddles and overcoming tests in a mission against the clock); Operation Nubia (you will have to join forces as archaeologists to save the monuments of Egypt endangered by the construction of a dam); The Gold of Moscow (the goal is to execute the biggest heist to the Bank of Spain, solving riddles and overcoming tests to relive history).

3 .Escape Room Inspired by ‘Among Us’.
‘Among Us’, the popular video game, has inspired an exciting escape room in Aventurico. In Sabotage: Among Us Live, players must complete missions while uncovering the traitors hidden among them. Two of the crew members are traitors, and the challenge is to identify them before they cause more mayhem. This experience is ideal for groups and offers a virtual reality version for children.

4. Bites Motel
Bites Motel is an experience worthy of a Netflix mystery documentary series, but you don’t have to go to Wisconsin because it’s in Vallecas. This roadside motel is newly renovated, but do not expect white walls and brightness, in fact, it is quite the opposite. It’s almost two hours of escape room, in which, apparently, there is a manager eager to welcome customers.

5. Street escape: Goya and the deaf man’s route
If there is an escape room in Madrid, this is it. For two or three hours you will be part of the uprising of the people of Madrid against the French. Armed with knives, pitchforks and sticks, you will have to face the invading army. The history of the city is in your hands. The epic is the key to this experience that takes place outdoors in the streets of the center, through the company’s application, and in which teams of six people can participate.

Among the escape rooms with actors in Madrid, La Entrevista has one of the most original proposals. The plot is about a company that opens its headquarters in Madrid and is looking for employees, so get ready for an unconventional job interview -as if a normal interview wasn’t already a mystery story in itself. Exit Game has two locations in the city: one in Chamberí (Meléndez Valdés street, 18); another one in Móstoles (Villaamil street, 1). Inside, there are several escape rooms to choose from, themed as ‘The mystery of Don Quixote’, ‘The secret of the Road’ or ‘Death Penalty 1962’. But to all these are added a series of games around the city, outdoors, escape gymkhanas with a duration of 90 minutes and designed for large teams divided into groups of 4 or 5 players (they also offer different themes, such as ‘Who killed the count’ or ‘The treasure of Cajamarca’).

Madrid Terror is an escape room where it’s always Halloween. You will only have a flashlight and a survival kit for the next 90 minutes of scares and tension. Paranormal Experience and Horror club are their main escapes, but they have special experiences according to season, as well as others designed for families.

9. The Secret of Madrid
Secreto de Madrid is a mix between escape room and theater, completely outdoors and perfect for touring the city. They have two games of intrigue, where the actors will guide you -or make you get a little more lost- through the mysteries of the streets of the city center. The escape city concept is well summarized in these experiences, which fit perfectly into birthday or family plans. They usually have an average duration of two hours.

10. The Pharmacy
The 19th century London inspires this escape room. Crimes are happening and women are disappearing, Sherlock Holmes, who shares a surname with the main suspect, has been arrested by mistake. You have 75 minutes to prove the innocence of one of the most relevant characters in literature. Don’t let the pressure get to you.

11 .The White Room
You have one hour to get out of this room. This room picks up the original concept of escape room games in which there is no story, only the not easy challenge of escaping with little help. In The white room players enter a completely white room, with few elements, with no apparent logical relationship, where they must solve with three clues a great enigma in the form of a final code. This experience is on the margin between game and mental training.
