That it is possible to organize a exhibition around something as current as the music that we could go listening any day in our headphones is a statement that, from this coming Thursday, June 6, will also be a fact: it is the date on which the General Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) will open the exhibition Urban Music, Pop and high culture with objects of artists such as C. Tangana, Rosalía, Bad Gyal or Quevedo.
The exhibition -whose ticket, by the way, is free- is part of the commemorative activities for the 125th anniversary of the SGAE. With it, the institution wants to celebrate talent and pay tribute to the artists who “are leading the greatest cultural revolution of the 21st century,” they say.
To this end, Urban Music, Pop and High Culture brings together transferred objects by more than 30 artists, among which you can find dresses and clothing, awards, illustrations and original photographs or notebooks with song lyrics and handwritten notes.
Some objects of the exhibition: from costumes to album covers
Among the objects that make up the exhibition, the public will be able to see up close the 10 jackets that Quevedo wore during his DQE tour, baseball caps made for Mushkaa, and Recycled J the top with Spanish coins from 1937 that La Zowi wore for the tour La Reina del Sur or the jacket that Bad Gyal wears in the videoclip of Blin Blin. The collection is completed with the tailed gown worn by Rosalia on their Motomami World Tour or their illuminated helmets. But it’s not all about wardrobe.
Also on display are David Rosel’s illustrations for Alizzz’s music videos and album covers and the original picture painted by Iván Floro for the iconic cover of C. Tangana’s album El Madrileño.
Dates and Times
The exhibition Urban music, Pop and high culture can be visited until July 14. The ticket is free (with access through Pelayo Street, 61) and its opening hours are from 16h to 21h from Monday to Sunday.
