It is well known that there are specific days and times when museums in Madrid that normally charge a ticket can be visited for free. A formula that is repeated, also, on special dates such as International Museum Day and that could well be justified on the occasion of, for example, the celebration of a centenary. This is the case of the Museum of Romanticism (calle de San Mateo, 13), which has announced that throughout the month of June it will be open to visitors at no cost.
This museum located in Malasaña -perhaps not as well known as others, but definitely worth knowing– is dedicated to the 19th century and defines itself as follows:“it is a mansion that recreates the daily life and customs of the high bourgeoisie during Romanticism“.
In addition to its collection, visitors who visit the Museum of Romanticism during the month of June will have access to the temporary exhibitions currently on display, namely:
- PHOTOESPAÑA: The Daughters of Minerva (in the Meeting Room or Room XXV)
- Cien Años contigo (at the Garden Hall from June 20)
- Spiritism in the 19th century (Room X, corridor)
- Fix the light. The Birth of Photography (Room X, hallway)
Museum of Romanticism: Opening Hours
From May to October, the Museum of Romanticism is open during the following hours:
- Tuesday to Saturday: 9:30 am to 8:30 pm
- Sundays and holidays: from 10h to 15h
The clearance of the galleries begins 15 minutes before closing time, after which the museum is no longer accessible.
2024, a year of centenaries
That of the Museum of Romanticism is only one of the centenaries celebrated this year: in the artistic field, it is also the 100th anniversary of the birth of Eduardo Chillida and, in sports, the Rayo Vallecano has completed a century of history.
