Although in Madrid you can’t go for a walk by the sea, you can go to a municipal swimming pool before the summer officially starts. As it is already a tradition, the public bathing areas in the region will open their doors on May 15, the day of San Isidro Labrador. As it is the inauguration of the bathing season, the day of the patron saint will be free admission.
Inmaculada Sanz, deputy mayor of Madrid, has confirmed that the opening hours of the pools will be the same as last year: until September 7, they will open in three shifts: morning, from 10:00 to 15:00 hours, afternoon, from 16:00 to 21:00 hours, and full day, from 10:00 to 21:00 hours.
Those who opt for the full day will receive an identification bracelet that must be worn throughout the day (because it is non-transferable and valid only during the reserved day).
Tickets can be booked online through the Madrid City Council Sports website or through the Madrid Móvil app. There is the possibility of purchasing them up to 45 hours before the start of the corresponding shift.

Before the end of June, the works of four swimming pools will be finished: the one in the sports centers Luis Aragonés (Hortaleza), Peñuelas (Arganzuela), Moscardó (Usera) and Vicente del Bosque (Fuencarral-El Pardo). This will allow the residents of the surrounding areas to enjoy the facilities all summer long.
