Farmers’ markets have become fashionable in the capital. Perhaps it is because they allow you to buy food of a quality that does not exist in large supermarkets, or because it promotes the local economy, with the advantages that this entails at the environmental level. The fact is that we are seeing more and more commercial spaces of this type in Madrid. The next to arrive in the city is Espacio Orgánico, a center specializing in the sale of products with organic certification that has its own restaurant and a supermarket with very competitive prices.
On Saturday, October 19, Espacio Orgánico will host (from 11:00 to 15:00 hours) its Market of organic and local producers at the Equinoccio shopping center in Majadahonda (Calle Fresa, 2). It is presented as an ideal opportunity to fill the shopping cart with local food and, incidentally, get started in the world of responsible consumption.
With this initiative, Espacio Orgánico intends that producers share their knowledge about organic agriculture and livestock with customers of the center. Thus, visitors to the market will be able to know where the products they buy come from and who are responsible for their production.
Among the groups of producers who will set up a stall in this market are Sierra Eco Foods: a small company dedicated to the manufacture of granola and handmade cookies with raw materials from the Sierra Norte de Madrid. Pielsana, which produces cosmetics with organic products, completely free of chemicals, will also be joining.
Ecos del Lozoya, Bodegas Robles, Granja la Sierra, Onesimum, Jabón zorro d’Avi, Biológicos Monfragüe, Ecosancho, Valle del Taibilla and Coco by Angela are nine other small-scale business names that have confirmed their participation in the market.
