Going out to eat with your pet has long since ceased to be the preserve of a few hipster cafés. Now it’s trendy and, more importantly, it’s normal. The Repsol Guide, which has some sense of smell to detect what is cooking, has just announced 270 new Soletes scattered throughout Spain in which not only serve good coffees and better omelets, but also put red carpet to your dog.
With these new additions, the Solete family now totals more than 4,500 establishments throughout the country. Neighborhood bars with a long tradition, specialty coffee shops, brunch restaurants -for lack of a better word-, vegan restaurants, pastry shops where they don’t distinguish between humans and canines: everything is on the radar when what counts is that they serve you well and at prices that don’t scare you.
Soletes for dogs and humans

“We had detected a growing interest from users to know where you can go with your pet,” explains Maria Ritter, director of the Repsol Guide. “I myself have a dog, Bowie, and it makes me happy to incorporate him into the plans.” So this special edition of Soletes is born with the mission of making life easier for those who consider the dog one of the family.
There are places that go a little further. In places like Linda Café, in Valdemoro, they not only let dogs in, but also set up reading clubs for humans. A brunch, a novel, your Labrador at your feet. The concept of “planazo” is starting to sound different.
In Madrid, 18 new Soletes are joining the party. There is something for everyone: from the specialty coffee of Urbano Specialty Coffee in Santa Barbara, to the Japanese veganism of Okashi Sanda in Malasaña, through places like Merinas Bar and Ultramarinos or Gozar. Also restaurants that sound like modern pop records (Fiera, Jam, Nato) or food houses that promise breakfast, lunch and snacks without looking at the clock (Casa de Canarias, Plántate Café).
