Vegan restaurants in Madrid have gone beyond the time when they were strictly related to places where vegans could be found eat healthy. Now they adopt all kinds of formats and gastronomies, from the traditional tavern to the Peruvian restaurant, there is only one thread that unites them: to exclude any food of animal origin.
1. La Encomienda
That vegan cuisine is not boring or repetitive is demonstrated by places like La Encomienda, which aims to entertain, innovate, surprise… always from the concept of homemade, organic and proximity. And with a clear principle: to bet on the sustainable future of food. Highlights of the menu include the delicious causa limeña (with jack fruit and kala namak veganesa) or the pickled mushroom salad, which also includes roasted sweet potato, spiced chickpeas and a cashew and thyme sauce.

4. Avocado Love
Avocado Love is the result of the explosion that this food has experienced in the last decade. Avocado has become, in this order, the protagonist of Instagram breakfasts, the superfood on the lips of nutrition experts and an ingredient with many, many possibilities.
It is not surprising that a restaurant would pay exclusive Tribute to this tropical fruit that has given rise to a varied, attractive and environmentally friendly menu.
Avocado Love sets a precedent with an entirely vegan and gluten-free proposal, where this unctuous delicacy expands in a good handful of possibilities: grilled, in salad, in cream, accompanying a Limean cause or in maki mode. Almost nothing.

The great thing about Pizzie & Dixie is that its menu ranges from simple dishes to others that are much more original, but they all have something in common: the vegetable garden of Nacho Sánchez, the chef. When he has time, he travels to his village to collect produce he has grown himself and use it in his creations. The result of these trips and the chef’s imagination is the following: the first vegan Italian restaurant in Madrid.

B13 is the vegan version of the quintessential tasca with bar food of a lifetime. They serve tortilla sandwiches, calamari sandwiches, hamburgers or different portions based on 100% non-animal ingredients. Other virtues are added such as reasonable price, good quantity and very tasty, although the limited space makes it possible to run out of room

5. Black sheep
A classic among vegan restaurants in Lavapiés in great part for its chorivegano with cider, its hamburgers and its pies. To add points, they have a menu of the day.
Beyond serving food, here they openly promote different causes such as transfeminism and activism permeates everything, so much so that they have a small space for t-shirts, mugs, stickers, among many other things in support of these movements. There are also courses and lectures of different kinds.

6. Los Andenes

8. Viva Chapata
Traditional cuisine from a sustainable perspective. That is the maxim that governs the menu of the 100% vegan tavern Viva chapata, in Lavapiés. And they don’t cheat, here on Wednesdays we serve cooked (vegan, of course). In its menu you can find options for snacks such as its tortilla skewer, not calamari, falafel with veganesa, boletus edulis croquettes and, as its name suggests, ciabatta with different flavors.
