It could be said that the imaginary of spaces that current generations did not know is living one of its best moments. To openings such as those of the arcade bars (so fashionable in many parts of Madrid), is added to the one of Retro Factory an arcade and video game show that will open this Friday, May 31 in Alcorcón.
The space, which is next to the Puerta del Sur Metro stop (line 12), will have more than forty machines from the seventies, eighties and nineties. Some of the machines are pinball machines or foosball tables, but also classic arcades from many childhoods containing video games such as Tetris, Pacman, Street Fighter or Space Invaders.
There will also be a children’s Zone – with arcade areas suitable for children’s size.
Ginés Vivanco, spokesman of the association that makes this opening possible, indicates the following: “our main objective is to turn Alcorcón into a reference in the world of gaming and recover the recreational culture that was lost with the arrival of consoles, sharing our passion for the arcade and the video game, a symbol of several generations”.
To recover that gaming culture and reclaim arcades not only as places of leisure but also as spaces for socializing and learning, there will also be a small arcade museum with machines that are considered almost like museum pieces such as Missile Command, an arcade machine developed by Atari in 1980.
