Flea markets (and there are many in Madrid) are a great option for finding secondhand furniture at an affordable price or simply for browsing for a while. This option is appealing not only to potential buyers looking for antiques or home decor, but also to those who are moving out of their homes and decide to part with furniture, tableware, or even entire closets.
This is the case with a villa in Aravaca where, during the first weekend of September, everything will be for sale. And “everything” in a house means the furniture, the vintage coffee sets, the kitchenware, the glassware, the embroidered table linens, the paintings, the decorative plates, the coats… Even record players, sewing machines, and typewriters. These are fragments of a life that now have the chance to become part of a new home—and items that would likely be very difficult (if not impossible) to find in big-box stores.
The flea market is organized by Alma Market Home, which typically announces the locations and dates of its events through its social media channels. The one in Aravaca will be neither the first nor the last, so those who already have plans for the first weekend in September will have more opportunities to find something to add to their homes at future flea markets.
Location, registration, and tips for visiting the flea market
The flea market will be held at Calle Rosas de Aravaca, No. 38 (Aravaca district) throughout the first weekend of September. Its hours will be:
- Friday , September4 , and Saturday , September 5 : from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday , September6 : 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Appointments to visit on Friday morning are sold out, but on Friday afternoon, as well as Saturday and Sunday, there will be open house events with free admission ( as long as capacity hasn’t been reached).
Payment can be made in cash or by card, and Alma Market Home recommends bringing your own bags to avoid excessive plastic use and, if you’re driving, avoiding parking in front of neighbors’ garage doors.
