There are events that, despite taking place in spring, are closely associated with summer. It may be because they come hand in hand with the heat, starting to turn on the air conditioners or because some people are already looking forward to their vacations; but the truth is that the Madrid Book Fair, the opening of the swimming pools or the celebration of the design market of the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) are unmistakable indicators of the beginning of the summer season.
The latter, Pop Arq Store, is the one that concerns us because it celebrates a new edition this weekend: it will be on June 7 and 8 in the garden floor of COAM (Calle de Hortaleza, 63). On this occasion, the event will bring together a total of 26 architects who apply their knowledge to develop unique and handmade pieces.
Among the items will be lighting, goldsmithing, jewelry, costume jewelry, textiles, decoration, leather goods, accessories and even technology. And an intangible that enriches the experience: the architects themselves can explain to the public what has motivated them to make these pieces and how the design and production process has been.
Opening hours and access to the COAM design market
Access to the market is free and will be open during the following hours:
- Saturday, June 7: from 11.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Sunday, June 8: from 11.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Architecture Gallery
Last March, the COAM inaugurated a new space within its own headquarters: the Architecture Gallery of Madrid, where it hosts temporary exhibitions and a permanent exhibition for the dissemination of architectural heritage.
