Halloween 2024 is approaching and in Madrid we alternate pumpkin spice lattes with buñuelos and bones of saint -without fear of blood sugar spikes.
By the time October arrives, we Madrileños are already overdressed because either four drops have fallen or it seems that summer has returned (no in-between) and plans begin to take on a tone of the spooky season (the season of scares), anglicism through, as we have adopted this Anglo-Saxon tradition, not without some local twist.
1. Tour of the San Isidro Cemetery
Make a round Halloween plan and get to know Madrid better can be achieved with a tour of one of the historic cemeteries that are around the city. The Sacramental de San Isidro is located behind where one of the miracles of San Isidro took place and where the fountain is now. In addition, the Cemetery of San Isidro is one of the places in Madrid where a greater number of relevant works of architects and sculptors are concentrated.
As if this were not enough, it is close to the missing Quinta del Sordo de Goya, where he painted his black paintings. A two in one of mystery and art. The itineraries follow the routes divided by the cardinal points and can be individual or in groups of at least 10 people with previous reservation (by phone or email), the entrance fee is 8€ and the schedule is from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 to 15.00 h.
Location: Paseo de la Ermita del Santo, 72 (San Isidro)
2. The Altar of the Dead at Casa de México
As every year the Casa de México Foundation in Madrid presents its Altar of the Dead, one of the highlights of Halloween in Madrid. On this occasion it is designed by the renowned artistic director Eugenio Caballero. The altar will be open to the public from October 2 to November 10 and not only will you be able to hear and smell it. It is an experience designed to stimulate the senses that allows visitors to immerse themselves in Mexican tradition through aromas and sounds.
📍Location: Casa de México (street Alberto Aguilera, 20)
3. WAH Madrid
WAH Madrid is a musical show with gastronomy and party that exudes the artistic strength of the great Broadway shows and that as every year will have a special show on Halloween (dates to be confirmed).
WAH Madrid starts with a success: conquering the audience through the stomach. The first part takes place in the Food Hall, a gigantic gastronomic area where unusual characters and artists parade through to entertain the spectators. To celebrate the feast of the dead, attendees can go along with the theme and dress up in costume.
Location: IFEMA (Avenida Partenón, 5)
4. Murder Mystery
This Halloween in Madrid Muder Mystery, the immersive mystery experience, returns to the Fernán Núñez Palace. This time we will have to investigate the death of the High Priestess of the Sons of Jupiter. The suspects of her murder are many and each one had a motive to do it. Strained relationships and rumors of betrayal raise suspicions, but could the murder cover up an even darker secret?
Much more than an escape room, this is a mystery game that triumphs every Halloween. Sessions sell out very quickly, but there are (still) a few dates available for the next few months.
Calle de Santa Isabel, 44 (Downtown)
5. Candlelight
Entering a historic building in Madrid, well after dark, can be quite a frightening experience. However, if you add to this the fact that the space is full of candles, smoke and pumpkins and that a string quartet plays in unison the Halloween classics, the hair on the back of your neck is guaranteed. Candlelight presents its Halloween program this October and does so in such impressive venues as the Circulo de Bellas Artes and the Ateneo de Madrid. A musical and immersive show with which you can enjoy live such spooky themes as Thriller by Michael Jackson, the soundtrack of Nightmare Before Christmas or the theme songs of Ghostbusters, The Addams Family or Stranger Things. The definitive (musical) plan for this Halloween.
6. Madrid Terror Escape Room
Among the escape rooms that you can do in these dark dates, Madrid Terror proposes Paranormal File. A flashlight and a survival kit will be enough for 90 minutes of scares and tension. La casa de los Helliwell is a room with more than 200 m² of guaranteed terror, where there is also a special session for families with less difficulty.
Location: Paseo de la Esperanza, 53 (Delicias)
7. The House of Horrors
La Casa de los Horrores, the rural house known because here you can be scared 365 days a year, is the perfect place for horror addicts who want to live a group experience (followed by a party) this Halloween 2024. Among its scariest experiences are the following:
- Escape House 1.0: is a shorter format where everything starts at 10 pm and ends at approximately 1:00 am. Once the escape is over, the house is available until the end time. It is carried out with two actors, horror atmosphere and different tests in escape room format. The price is 99 € per person. A minimum of 8 people is required to open the show among all reservations.
- Cluedo 2.0: is the classic and long format. The part of terror or performance is still at the same time, but after there is a party with games, animation, karaoke until 5:00. It is performed with 5 actors, horror atmosphere and you have to solve a kind of Cluedo. The price is 140 € per person. A minimum of 10 people is required.
Location: Villamejor (Aranjuez)
8. Pumpkin Patch
Just as at Christmas you can go to a nursery to choose your fir tree, in places like La Huerta de Aranjuez you can also choose your pumpkin for Halloween, as well as decorate it, participate in activities and have a snack there.
From September 22 to November 3, events will take place: tractor rides, pumpkin picking, corn maze, snack bar (cob + drink of your choice), among others that you can see in the calendar on their website. Perhaps this is one of the best plans on the list to share with children.
Location: Carretera de Cádiz, 69 (Aranjuez)
9. Ghost Tour around Madrid
The Madrid ghost tour is a way to discover the most mysterious side of the city and some of the legends that linger in some of the capital’s emblematic buildings. To take this route you have to put yourself in the shoes of Diego de Velázquez on the day of reckoning.
The mission will be to solve the mysteries and follow the clues to prevent his soul from going to purgatory. Meanwhile, you walk the streets of Madrid, and learn the terrifying true stories behind places you never noticed before.
Location: Meeting point: Calle de Santiago, 24 (Ópera).
10. Chamberí Ghost Station
The abandoned station of Chamberí has been anchored to the past for more than six decades. Its decoration has been preserved, with advertising posters or signs of the time, as has its structure, topped by a vault and covered with the classic white beveled tile. It was restored and since 2008 is part of the Metro’s Platform Zero, which is the name chosen to name the network of suburban museums.
And although in itself the visit is a somewhat disturbing plan, it is almost a classic Halloween in Madrid that is transformed into a kind of passage of terror on these dates. The dates to book a ticket are usually announced weeks before the event.
Location: Plaza de Chamberí, s / n (Chamberí)
11. Halloween at the Parque de Atracciones de Madrid
Fear and mystery will flood the Parque de Atracciones de Madrid from October 5 to November 3.
The passage of terror of the Parque de Atracciones is a classic of Halloween in Madrid. This year repeats The Temple of Shanarkai, set in the most cursed Egypt, where tombs and mummies will meet archaeological innocents who must find their way to the treasure. Also joining the night dedicated to scares are the horror experiences of El Viejo Caserón, Nosferatu, Asylum and The Walking Dead Experience.
In addition, there will be two shows at the Gran Teatro Auditorio: the Scream Show, set in an apocalyptic world, and the Nickelodeon Hallloween Party, so that children can also enjoy Halloween night.
As a novelty and if you like mystery you can’t miss Area 51, we can’t explain what you will find here, it’s top secret.
Location: Casa de Campo

The Warner Park Madrid is transformed into a scary movie set during the Halloween season. All the attractions and activities have been designed for all those who are looking for thrills. From October 2 to November 3, the park promises a series of events and attractions that will make visitors live the fear in first person.
- Halloween Scary Nights: this year, Warner Park presents four exclusive nights that invite the bravest to face their worst nightmares. With more than 100 terrifying characters spread across three Horror Zones, guests can explore Clowns to Kill in DC Superheroes World, Apocalypse: The Silence in Movie World Studios, and Astaroth: Evil Trinity in Old West Territory.
- Horror Passages: Among the most notable new features is the new horror passage The Nun, which immerses visitors in the sinister ruins of St. Charter’s Monastery. This passage promises to be an immersive experience inspired by the scariest movies in cinema. In addition, during Halloween Scary Nights, all seven scare passages will be open to the public at no additional cost, including favorites such as Crime Alley: Night of Chaos and IT Experience.
- Family Halloween: For those looking for a less frightening but equally fun experience, the park offers options for the whole family. In addition, shows such as the Delirium Live Musical and the Trick or Treat Party Parade ensure entertainment for all ages.
- Attractions and shows: The park’s iconic attractions also dress up for Halloween. Visitors can enjoy thrilling roller coasters such as Batman Gotham City Escape and Superman under the spooky atmosphere of the season. And to close the celebration with a flourish, DJ Nano will set the rhythm on the most awaited night of October 31.
