Breathing air that doesn’t smell like gasoline, looking out the window at the mountains and spending the afternoon in bubbling water: if that’s all you want to do to escape the city for the weekend, these spa hotels fit the bill. Most likely with a circuit of thermal waters you will be able to lower your heart rate and relax muscle tension, but to clear your head, the hotels on this list also offer to visit villages with a lot of history, walk through protected areas and eat very well (including Michelin stars).
1. Molino de Alcuenza
Between Sigüenza and Medinaceli lies the Molino de Alcuenza, a small hotel with 17 rooms, a restaurant with michelin star the hotel has a full spa with a beauty cabin and a garden with a swimming pool. It is less than two hours from Madrid and besides resting and eating delicacies you can stroll through the Natural Park of the Barranco del Río Dulce that surrounds it.

2. Parador de La Granja
La Granja is only an hour away from Madrid, but when you arrive it feels like you have changed country. This charming village that arose from the surroundings of the palace and its Versailles gardens has, in addition, one of the most important the Paradores the most well known -publicly managed hotels-. It occupies the former Casa de los Infantes that Carlos III ordered to be built in the 18th century for his children and, although coming just to eat the typical beans is worthwhile, its spa is the finishing touch to this little hedonistic getaway.

3. Los Cinco Enebros
The sierra is the escape route of every capital city dweller, but not only its hiking trails and its classics mountain restaurants attract people every weekend. Small hotels with spas are also an attraction for agitated minds. Los Cinco Enebros is located in Robledo de Chavela, a village in the west of the Community, between the Guadarrama and Gredos mountain ranges. 4. Castilla Termal Brihuega
Brihuega is known for the flowering of lavender, which has led them to call themselves the Spanish Provence, but La Alcarria has little to envy to this French region. This 5-star hotel with spa is a clear example of how much this area of Guadalajara has been revalued in recent years. Built in the former Real Fábrica de Paños, you can take a bath in thermal waters between 18th century walls or have a massage in one of its 11 cabins prepared for this purpose.

5. El Bálsamo de Belmonte
A perfect opportunity to get to know La Mancha in Cuenca is to spend a few days at El Bálsamo. This 5-star boutique hotel has a spa carved into the stone that, in addition to being aesthetically pleasing, helps to give a sense of seclusion and calm. The entire hotel is decorated in soft tones and natural materials but with a Castilian essence.
Belmonte, the village where this small hotel is located, still preserves its walls, palaces, convents and even a castle from its golden age -between the 15th and 17th centuries-, where battles from the First World War are recreated.

6. La Graja
La Graja is a 200 year old farmhouse with a beautiful porticoed courtyard. This cottage has eight rooms and a small spa: it’s like an upgraded (and refined) version of spending a weekend in the village. The location is also another attraction: it is in the tourist town of Chinchón, considered one of the most important in the world the eighth most beautiful village in Spain in 2023.
