Who hasn’t fantasized about sleeping in a five-star hotel? It’s one of those dreams that crosses your mind when you come across buildings on a par with the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, located in the heart of the Landscape of Light. This place, in which (by ancient rules of etiquette) could only enter the royalty and some other aristocratic character, eventually became the whereabouts of great Hollywood directors and actresses, who came to spend the night. Today, anyone who wants to can stay here, but at what price?
According to Hosteltur, Madrid is positioning itself as a world-class luxury tourist destination. In the last four years, 10 high-end hotels have opened with prices so high that, in most cases, they do not reach 50% occupancy.
A hotel with luxury as its flagship
The Ritz is the most expensive hotel in Madrid. For its history, location, excellent service and elegant decor inspired by the belle époque, this fact is completely logical. The cost of a night in the hotel’s least luxurious room costs around 1500€, while the most expensive (with views of the city) is priced at around 2,400€. The suites almost double the price of the “premium” rooms: the largest (Turret suite) can accommodate three people and can reach 4,500€, since it is in a privileged space: one of the turrets of the building.
The hotel brands that compete with the Ritz
The second most expensive hotel in the capital, known for its direct access to the sophisticated Galería Canalejas, isFour Seasons Hotel. It belongs to one of the most prestigious hotel chains in the world and thas prices very similar to the imposing Ritz. Around 1240€ for one night in a single room (or for two) overlooking the inner courtyard. Suites are three times the price of rooms. Those with a terrace can cost up to €4,600 per day.
Four Seasons is in the heart of the city (Sevilla, 3). It encompasses seven historic buildings in Madrid, including a former 19th-century palace that is now the core of the hotel. Among its many luxury experiences, its wellness center, one of the largest in the capital, stands out.

The third hotel with the highest prices is outside the Centro district, in one of the most expensive areas of the city: the Salamanca neighborhood. It is Rosewood Villa Magna, located where the Palacio de Anglada(Paseo de la Castellana, 22) used to be. This year, Condé Nast Traveler added it to its gold list of the best hotels in Spain. A night here can cost between 900 and 1300 euros, depending on the season and the room you choose. As in the previous hotels, suites double the price (around 3000€ per day).
Fourth place goes to the Hotel Relais & Châteaux Orfila. In this elegant building in Chamberí, prices per night range from 500 to 950 euros. Its stately atmosphere and taste for the classic characterize this unique palace.
