The most followed sport in the country has a virtue: it brings people together, and that’s why finding a bar where to watch a soccer match in Madrid can be crucial, especially when it’s a final, a classic or an important tournament.
Among the requirements that a bar must meet to enjoy soccer in it – besides having a screen, of course – are: good beer and food to share, tapas and rations are conditio sine qua non, because let’s assume that someone who is not so much interested in sports as in spending time with friends always joins in.
1. La Fontana de Oro
The Fontana de Oro, which inspired Benito Pérez Galdós’ first novel and where the cream of Spanish society has gathered for centuries, has gone through many names since its original founding in 1782. It is not clear if it was previously located just a few meters from where this Irish pub with live music now takes its name.
This place, besides still being part of the history of Madrid’s nightlife, is one of the best bars to enjoy a soccer match in the center of Madrid.
📍 Calle de la Victoria, 1 (downtown)
2. Soccer bar brewery
Soccer bar is an option looking for the perfect bar to meet and watch soccer in the north of the capital. They have taken the name from the way Americans name this sport, and perhaps it is a good way to put distance, not to get wet, here any fan, whatever team it is, is welcome and will have the opportunity to see their soccer enjoy (at least through the screen). It also has other attractions: the terrace, its sandwiches, tapas and cold beer.
📍 Calle de Caleruega, 1 (Pinar del Rey)
3. O’connell St PUB
In O’connell St you can not only watch games on their screens and TVs, or get drunk with their wide variety of beers (especially international) but you can also enjoy live music. In addition, between pinta and pint in this Irish pub they also serve food. So, if you are looking for a place to meet with friends to watch the Qatar 2022 World Cup Final, this one meets all the conditions.
📍 Calle de Espoz y Mina, 7 (downtown)
4. LaLiga 29’s Madrid bar
Surrounded by theaters, musicals and all kinds of clothing stores, 29’s Madrid is La Liga’s bet for its own space. A bar to watch soccer in the middle of Gran Vía. As if the atmosphere was not already hectic in this artery of the city, in this bar they broadcast all the matches, wherever you look there is a screen. But if during the break you want to try other things: there is an eSports area and another to live the experience in augmented reality in the space of The Beat Challenge.
📍 Gran Vía Street, 53 (downtown)
5. Café Mario Bar
Alternating good torreznos with a Paulaner beer while watching a classic is something impossible to imagine in Germany, but it makes perfect sense in Madrid. Café Mario Bar in the mornings lives up to its name by serving quality coffee, without being specialty, but in the afternoons sports occupy its screen, pints replace ceramic cups and tapas replace sweets.
📍 Calle de Rodríguez San Pedro, 44 (Chamberí)
6. Bareto
Bareto is a brewery that defines itself this way on Instagram: “bar, chopsticks and napkins on the floor”. Although it does embrace a classic aesthetic, it gives it a twist, updates it and makes it its own. The same with its menu. They serve gildas, Russian salad and torreznos, but in a fine version.
It now has two locations, but it is the one next to Cibeles that also fulfills another basic requirement of a good bar: here you can watch most of the Spanish league soccer matches.
📍 Calle de Alcalá, 55, 28014 (Salamanca district); Calle Atocha, 120 (Atocha); Plaza Olavide, 8 (Chamberí) and Av. de Europa, 10 (Alcobendas Golf Park).
7. Beerhouse Madrid
In Beerhouse they seek to serve the best craft beer of the moment while you watch soccer in company. They have been offering the best quality craft beer, both national and international, to everyone who visits them since 2015.
They have two spaces: one in Cardenal Cisneros street, where they have twelve taps of beer and four screens on which to watch different sports and another location in Majadahonda, where they also prepare burgers on charcoal grill.
📍 Calle del Cardenal Cisneros, 16 (Chamberí) and Calle Gran Vía, 5 (Majadahonda)
8. Cervecería Deportiva Sports Bar
It must be clear that when you visit a bar to watch a soccer match you do not go there with the intention of eating Michelin-quality food. Tapas with your drinks, broadcasts of other sports matches, an acceptable price, a good atmosphere and a central location. Cervecería Deportiva Sports Bar delivers what it promises. No more and no less.
📍Calle de las Veneras, 7 (Center)
