What is too much and what is too little money? Well, it often depends on the quality of the product you are paying for. When it comes to restaurants with michelin star if the figure is around or below 100 € we can say that they are cheap.
Of the 5 criteria that a restaurant has to meet to be worthy of being recognized with this insignia, 3 have to do with this standard; namely: quality of ingredients, harmony of flavors and mastery of technique. That is to say, with only one star you can be sure that the restaurant will be worthwhile and if, in addition, the price is adjusted (and given the current times of inflation) more merits (and public) are added.
Chiron
First on the list has to be the restaurant that holds the Honor of being the cheapest Michelin star restaurant in Madrid. The exceptional thing about their executive menu is that it is under 50€, in fact it does not reach 35€ and includes welcome snacks, oils, appetizer, starter, fish, meat, dessert and final dessert. It is worth noting that in spite of everything, prices have not been raised in recent years.
📍 Calle Alarcón, 27 (Valdemoro)
💸 Executive Menu: 34 €
Clos
Sommelier and restaurateur Marcos Granda is at the helm of Clos, another Michelin-starred restaurant with menu options under €100. Its cuisine follows traditional lines with seasonal and local products. A good example is its version of the cocido madrileño (Madrid stew) which is served as a starter in both the daily and tasting menus. The wine is almost as important as the food at Clos, so the pairings are as thoughtful with the actual preparation of the dishes.
💸 Noon menu: 79€
📍 Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, 24 (Cuatro Caminos)
La Tasqueria
They define theirs as a visceral cuisine and without a doubt they are right. La Tasqueria has made of the butcher’s shop haute cuisine worthy of a Michelin star and a sun of the Repsol Guide. Few award-winning restaurants have a product that has always been linked to the street and neighborhood bars: tripe, pig’s trotters, pig’s feet, pig’s snout or oxtail. Everything served at La Tasqueria is a twist on traditional recipes.
💸 Tasting menu from: 55 €
📍 Calle del Duque de Sesto, 48 (Goya)
Montia
Montia is one of the most exclusive restaurants of the madrilenian mountain range. It burned out, was reborn and has maintained its Michelin star and an adjusted price, even if it is now a little over 100 €. When you go to the mountains, you think of hearty, hearty food, and in this restaurant they have refined dishes as difficult to sophisticate as corns and calluses.
💸 Tasting menu from 105 €
📍 Calle Juan de Austria, 7 (San Lorenzo de El Escorial).
Santerra
The “bush cuisine” as defined by chef Miguel Carretero, that is, the cuisine of La Mancha’s countryside, takes shape in the capital with Santerra. This restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star for the first time in the last delivery of this distinction made by the prestigious guide. Although awards that placed him in the Madrid gastronomic scene he already had, as the winner of the best croquette of Madrid Fusion in 2018. The menu is around 100€, but you can order the croquettes a la carte, at the bar or in the Neotaberna.
💸 Tasting menu: 98 €
📍 Calle del Gral. Pardiñas, 56 (Salamanca)
