What is too much and what is too little money? Well, it often depends on the quality of the product you are paying for. When it comes to Michelin-starred restaurants if the figure is around or below 100 € we can say that they are cheap.
Of the 5 criteria that a restaurant has to meet to be worthy of being recognized with this insignia, 3 have to do with this standard, namely: quality of ingredients, harmony of flavors and mastery of technique. That is to say, with only one star you can be sure that the restaurant will be worthwhile and if, in addition, the price is adjusted (and given the current times of inflation) more merits (and public) are added.
Chirón
The first on the list has to be the restaurant that holds the honor of being the cheapest Michelin star in Madrid. The exceptional thing about its executive menu is that it is under 50 €, in fact it does not reach 39 € and includes welcome snacks, oils, appetizer, starter, fish, meat, dessert and final sweet. It should be noted that despite all this, prices have not been raised in recent years.
📍Location:calle Alarcón, 27 (Valdemoro)
💸 Executive menu: 39 €.
Clos
Sommelier and restaurateur Marcos Granda is at the helm of Clos, another Michelin-starred restaurant with menu options under €100. His cuisine follows traditional lines with seasonal and local products. A good example is his version of cocido madrileño, which is served as a starter on both the daily and tasting menus. The wine is almost as important as the food at Clos, so the pairings are as well thought out as the preparation of the dishes themselves.
📍Location: Calle Raimundo Fernández Villaverde, 24 (Cuatro Caminos).
💸 Lunch menu: 94€.
La Tasqueria
They define theirs as a visceral cuisine and without a doubt they are right. La Tasquería has turned casquería into haute cuisine worthy of a Michelin star and a sun from the Repsol Guide. In few restaurants so awarded can be counted a product that has always been linked to the street and neighborhood bars: tripe, pig’s trotters, feet, snout or oxtail. Everything served at La Tasquería is a twist on traditional recipes.
📍Location:calle del Duque de Sesto, 48 (Goya)
💸 Tasting menu from: 65 €.
Montia
Montia is one of the most exclusive restaurants in the mountains of Madrid. It burned down, was reborn and has kept its Michelin star and a reasonable price, although now it goes up a little over 100 €. When you go to the mountains you think of hearty stew food, and in this restaurant they have refined dishes as difficult to sophisticate as tripe.
📍Location:Calle Juan de Austria, 7 (San Lorenzo de El Escorial).
💸 Tasting menu from: 115 €.
Santerra
The “cuisine of the scrubland” as defined by chef Miguel Carretero, that is, the cuisine of La Mancha’s countryside, takes shape in the capital with Santerra. This restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star for the first time in the penultimate award ing of this distinction by the prestigious guide. Although awards that placed it in the Madrid gastronomic scene already had, as the winner of the best croquette of Madrid Fusion in 2018. The menu goes slightly over 100 €, but you can order the croquettes a la carte, at its bar or in the Neotaberna.
📍Location:Calle del Gral. Pardiñas, 56 (Salamanca).
💸 Tasting menu: 115 €.
