One day you’re in short sleeves and a week later you can’t stand any terrace in Madrid unless it’s covered. In this city terraceo is a religion, or at least it is the most common hobby, and it doesn’t stop when it rains again.
The Spanish saying goes: la cabra tira al monte. Madrileños, as long as they don’t stay at home, go in search of covered terraces where they can spend the fall and winter, because a beer with friends is always a good weekend plan.
1. Grama Lounge

Grama Lounge has a Caribbean beach right next to Sol. In this Venezuelan restaurant they look favorably on sandals in the middle of December and that you order your cocktail with lots of ice because their downstairs is covered with sand. Accompanying it with some arepas and tequeños is the ultimate shock therapy to face the cold days.

5. La Antoñita

La Antoñita is a restaurant in La Latina, with a curious history and menu. This was an old soap factory – which inspires the chocolate-based bar of soap dessert – but it was also part of an inn that was attached to the old wall of Madrid of which you can still see the remains. Its now charming covered terrace was where the travelers’ mules rested. A lot of history in a few meters.

11. Rocacho

Rocacho is defined as a modern steakhouse, both for its menu and its space. Far from the Castilian decor of the old steakhouses in Madrid, the brightness of its covered terrace and the simplicity of Scandinavian furniture also speak of how they have updated the most carnivorous dishes such as beef jerky omelette or torrija with foie. Although their rice dishes and desserts cannot be overlooked either.

In the menu you will find dishes made with local and high quality products: beet hummus with homemade pitaccia, roasted bell pepper and cured egg yolk or its delicious cheesecake. Without forgetting its pizzas made in wood oven.
In the design of the restaurant, the old Espronceda Theater, all the elements and materials are designed to make it sustainable, such as the jars hanging from the ceiling that help to maintain a pleasant temperature thanks to the heat exchange.
